OBDF 301: Mold Positive Prep for CAM

Image
The photo above is my foam positive. I kept in mind of not adding overlapping areas or undercuts as the CNC machine would not be able to do so. draft angle analysis really helped me make sure I did not accidently add things to the model the machine was not able to do. I did not have to make any changes to the model as I had this in mind from the beginning. I would like to see if it is possible to change pieces mid cut to get a smaller detail or make another CAM file to do so. This photo shows me using draft angle analysis to check the draft and release points this is ideally how I want my piece to come out from this process

I chose to do a one-piece mold making a bowl. I used draft angle analysis to check the draft and the release and made sure it would be able to pop out. The middle of the bowl has a tiny spike which may be too small for the drill piece but I want to see how it turns out.

here I was just messing around with shapes making molds  I used draft angles analysis to check if the drill bit could get the angles I wanted. All the red are angles that would have issues getting cut from the top down so this model would not work for this.

The Ending

Looking at what I just did compared to what my first project I am so proud of myself for learning how to do this and how much fun this really was. This journey was fun but it is not over.

This was a test render of him to see the colors on him and see if I needed to change anything Simple render of him put together Different stance

Progress 2

This week I worked on the harder parts of my model and it took a lot longer to make these. The fact that some of these shapes are on angles really messed me up specifically when I hade to Booleandiffernce things away from them He is comming together  just need to add materials and render him

Progress 1

This week I spent the time scaling and mapping the largest pieces and plane to revolve and extrude them so I can then make the holes they have. As I was mapping the pieces I started to see the model come together and was eager to see the finished product
