My Castle


 
This is my take on the house from the Wona arc form One Piece. I decided to recreate this as One Piece was something I watched during the summer. The voxel approach I took was to make it slightly more difficult with all the curves and bends just using boxes.






By using a voxel approach it was quite easy to create a scale and frame for the base and add onto it. When it can to adding detail to it and adding to the frame voxels limited me to certain shapes and could not let me achieve the exact look of the idea.







Trying to add flow to a box using more boxes is quite difficult and it did not work in my piece. I found from doing this assignment that I would use voxel as a starting frame for a 3d model to create a frame and scale the model but when it comes to creating the model I would rather use the proper tools to create the shapes needed.

Surface Design

 References Process I was creating random shapes in class and made a document of just shapes that I liked so I could use it as a library if I wanted. This was helpful with creating an outline and filling negative space. I was wanting to make my surface design to be like a stamp or brand, rather then a pattern. I took inspiration of a oni mask and using the sun and the moon as a way of contrast.  I choose the colors for the oni mask before anything as I wanted specific colors for it and contrasted the rest of the design based off of the mask. I did put it in a pattern after I finished the design and did not like how it looked this way as it had so much negative space and the detail from the oni mask was getting lost in the piece.
